Ok, so just wanted to do a quick little post on Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, that I saw last week and really enjoyed. Basically, it's about a bass guitarist who falls for a girl at a party, but then realises, if he wants to have a future with her, he's first going to have to vanquish her seven evil ex boyfriends. And when I say vanquish, I mean vanquish in the full, geeky, gamer sense. He might be a bass guitarist, but Scott Pilgrim fights these guys, (and one girl, lol) in total gamer style. The film is filled with gamer references and the battles make you think you've fallen asleep and woken up in front of your Xbox or PlayStation, lol. But I think this is the charm of the movie. It's quirky, different and I thought a breath of fresh air. I'm not a big gamer in the true sense of the word, but I had no problem understanding any of the references made. It was a great bit of fun and a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Most of the cinema seemed to be enjoying it too and the film has got alot of laughs, generated from Scott's gay roommate, (played by Kieran Culkin) and Knives Chau, Scott's 'ex' girlfriend. Also, the ex's, including Lucas Lee (played by Chris Evans) provide alot of comic relief. I think even if you're not an out and out gamer, you'll enjoy this movie. I'd say give it a go and you might be pleasantly surprised. However, if you are a gamer, be sure not to miss it. It's a must see. Enjoy!! :)
